Yeah… the title sums it up

So my parents spend most of the year in Addis Ababa, Ethiopia as teachers at an International School there (it’s for Americans, Europeans and any other foreigners not locals). And being the good college student I am I flew back to see my parents over Christmas. Resulting in the worst flight ever.

To get these tickets without going into indentured servitude most of my flights were paid for with frequent flyer miles (my flights from Des Moines to Chicago to Frankfurt Germany) from there I got an Ethiopian Air Flight to Addis Ababa. This ended up being one of the worst flights I’ve ever been on.

For starters I was in the middle isle with 3 seats with me in the middle of those. On my right was a guy that was perpetually drunk (had some duty free stuff with him he was constantly dipping into) on my left was a very large man that took up about 1/3 of my seat as well as his. I would have thought about trying to sleep through most of it but then there was about 10 small children in the cabin near me and they all seemed to be trading off who was going to cry. Not to mention the kid about 7 that kept kicking the back of my seat.

On top of the horrible situation I was very hungry. I hadn’t been able to get any food since the flight from Chicago to Frankfurt and on that all I had had was a granola bar because the “sandwich” was horrible and I had slept through the main meal. Well things weren’t better on the Ethiopian flight, in fact it was so bad that all I ate was a bread roll.

To put the icing on the cake, they didn’t get my luggage, it’s 2 nights later and I’m going to get it later today, but these clothes that I’m wearing now are very old and I haven’t touched them since high school. I feel like I should turn on some Linkin Park for some teenage angst music.
