Playing with some new software
So a couple of days ago I got ahold of iPhoto 5,
all I can say is it blows the old versions out of the water. It’s faster, and
easier. Speed has always been a bit of an issue with iPhoto, but not anymore.
I can get through my somewhat meager collection of 581 photos in no time now and
I can browse around easier too now. It’s hard to explain if you haven’t used
the older versions of it, but I’m very impressed.
Something that I’ve been playing with is the “Adjust” sliders which include Brightness, Contrast, Saturation, Temperature, Tint, Sharpness, Straiten, Exposer and Levels. All of which combined allow you to touch up even pretty bad photos (something I’m sure that I’ll be using fairly often). The other thing that they let you do is also completely screw with the appearance of the photo and turn it into a somewhat artsy version of the original. Right now I’ve got two such pictures as my desktop pictures, one of each of my computers. You can see both bellow. It’s lots of fun and if you have a Mac, go get iLife 05, iPhoto 5 alone is worth it.
