Kevin Smith, Director (and writer?) of Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, Clerks, Mallrats, Chasing Amy, and Dogma, and huge Star Wars fan, is now my hero. It’s pretty well known that Kevin Smith is a huge Star Wars fan, if you watch you can see it through out all of his movies (Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back’s title for example). Anyways Kevin Smith with his hollywood connections and massive fanboyism seems to have gotten a private digital screening of Star Wars Episode III: Revenge of the Sith.

“‘Revenge of the Sith’ is, quite simply, fucking awesome. This is the ‘Star Wars’prequel the haters have been bitching for since ‘Menace’ came out, and if they don’t cop to that when they finally see it, they’re lying” -Kevin Smith

So you can see why Smith is now my hero, he has given me hope that this movie is going to be awesome, and is going to totally rock. With the news that the Hitchhiker’s movie might not be as good as hoped, and the most recent trailers, I was beginning to worry about my chances of a good Sci-fi flick this summer. Here’s a link to the “review.” It is FILLED WITH SPPOILERS, if you don’t want to have something spoiled don’t read this, but if you don’t mind too much, read it, it’ll give the Star Wars fan in you hope.

So not that anyone other than me cares, but April is now the 3rd month in a row to surpass previous months. Starting in January with Zero hits (yes… I know I didn’t even have the website up then). February with 10822 hits, an average of 450 a day. March (with a boost from KQ activity) having 24058 hits an average of 776 a day. Lastly April with 25287 hits and counting, an average of 936 hits a day. Really, that’s pretty cool if you ask me. It makes me think people actually visit here every so often; really I’m probably fooling myself and they’re mosly just spam bots.

(By the way none of these hits include me going to my own website, really, I swear… seriously they don’t)

If you’re curious I have automatic site statistics.

On another front today I upgraded from Ubuntu linux 4.1 (Warty the Warthog) to 5.0 (Hoary the Hedgehog) the upgrade was as simple as changing some variables in a text file and typing 2 commands. After 25 minutes my computer had downloaded (for free of course) and installed all of the upgrades that the new version entailed. No restarting, no install CDs, no money. Not going to get me to give up my Mac, but linux rocks!

This post is pretty nerdy, you have been forewarned.

Recently I decided that music has become somewhat of a burden on my Powerbook. It only has a 40GB hard drive and with over 10GB of that being music I think it's a little ridiculous. Another ridiculous thing is that I have a beautiful 4.1 speaker system that I rarely use to it's full potential, the powerbook only has a headphone jack. while pondering this situation I realized the perfect solution: Aria. Aria has a built in 6.1 sound card (thanks to the nForce2 chip-set) and a 80GB hard drive. Without all the other things that clutter Sam's (my powerbook's) hard drive, double the hard drive space, and a better sound card aria makes the perfect jukebox.
The idea of using it as a media center of sorts isn't new. It's been suggested to me a couple times. But quite frankly what I've seen of linux's capability of doing things like hooking up to a tv for video, my powerbook can't be touched. This on the other hand is very simple all it would require would be a suitable player. Aria running headless makes primarily graphical players cumbersome, and far from ideal. However Peter, Mr. Linux Extraordinare, gave me the answer.
MPD, a Music player daemon with support for MP3s and AACs. The whole thing is just great and I'm already enjoying using it. It lacks the simple single user interface of iTunes, but what it looses in that it makes up for in versatility, and pure cool factor.

I just wanted to say that I have a totally amazing Aunt. My Aunt Tara (my Dad’s sister) sent me a care package the other day. It had licorice, and shelled peanuts, and AMAZING chocolate chip and oatmeal cookies, oh how I love these cookies. bites into one mmmmm…

On top of the food the care package had a huge bucket filled with water balloon supplies, included in the note with the package was “Please don’t throw any out of anything higher than 1 story“. :D

Today I got a haircut…. :/ It was a good thing, I really needed it…. but at the same time I wish my hair wasn’t short. I can never find a happy medium. Some before and after pictures are attached to the post.

The stylist did a good job, I just never like my hair short I guess.

Today I think Spring and thus the onset of Summer officially hit me. It has been really humid. It’s been kind of miserable, especially at work in the basement of Durham. Even though this part of the weather wasn’t so great it rained. Not a bad rain, a good rain it cooled things off a bit and really greed campus up. Campus is amazingly beautiful right now. Anyways the appearance of spring has mad me realize how close summer is…. and I’m really looking forward to it.

This is the first post for a new category “Brainfart” for random posts that aren’t completely coherent but a feel like posting about.

Today I saw some new tv spots for Revenge of the Sith. They were pretty bad. Took most of the hope that the first TV spot had given me and stomped all over it. IT was prett awful, but not until I got to the last one I watched. This was absolutely terrible. If for whatever reason you can’t view it I’ve got them all here on tedger.com

Put a few things up today. Recent additions include: Gravity Club, and Harwood Debate pictures. Gravity Club is… well a club testing the validity of gravity’s existence, really pictures are worth a thousand words in this case and movies have got to be millions. The Harwood Debate was hilarious, I wish I had a transcript or something but a) Andrew, you suck as a secretary and b) a transcript wouldn’t do it justice.

Lastly I’ve got some great pictures that Nate, Scott and Fred took with army men.

The Harwood dinner is tonight, I imagine that I will have pictures up sometime tomorrow from that.
