So the New York Daily News (oh yes a real Pulitzer winner) has an amusing article today, apparently geeks are in style. Apparently geeks are nice, considerate, reliable, and faithful people. Wow, news to me! :p

(By the way, that’s not spite, I just find this terribly ironic, generally geek/nerd does not equal cool/in style. )

If you didn’t know Apple announced today that that they will be using Intel processors. This is a big move and tons of people have weighed in, so in my little corner of the web, I’m going to also.

Over the years Apple has been known to do some crazy things. For better or for worse (Sometimes both, I generally thing for the better) Apple makes choices that don’t always make sense.

So starting this summer I decided to give playing some classic, paper and pencil, Dungeons and Dragons. A few of the guys I’m playing with decided it would be a good idea if I picked up a figurine for representing my character on the board.
Yesterday I decided to drop into the local gaming/collectables/comic/anime store and i went searching through their selection of figurines. It’s kind of a pain because I couldn’t just look for “Male, Elf, Mage.” No they have to make it much more complicated. First of all there is no order to the figurines; They are on racks 7 deep and none of them on the same rack are the same. Second, most of the figurines are labeled something like “Martok the magnificent” which tells me nothing about the figurine looks like. Lastly it appears to me that D&D figurine makers have tons of imagination when they play the game but when it comes to making a unique looking mage they can’t seem to broaden their thoughts beyond your typical big beard, big hat, Gandalf/Mirlin clone.
Anyways I finally came across a figurine that was right on the front of the rack that looked perfect. Elven like features, no giant beard, no giant hat, bet definitely a wizzard. I looked a bit longer and finally decided to buy this seemingly fitting figurine. I leave the store and head back to work for the rest of the day (this was on my lunch break). I get to work open it up and I realize something upon closer inspection. The reason that this mage didn’t have a beard is because it had breasts. Yes, the figurine was of a female cleric “Guinevere the Healer.”

The seemingly perfect placement of the box as the first item on the rack lead me not to read the name of the figurine, the “elven” features were feminine ones, and the lack of beard was because of the presence of breasts.

Yes, I’m an unobservant moron.
