Whew! First week is over! I made it to every last class and was only late once (I jumped on a bus when I should have walked). I’m taking 17 credits this semester (1 pass fail) so I’m fairly busy. Currently on my plate is:
Political Science 357: International Security Policy. Yet to see how good this will be. The professor has been out of town and we watched Dr. Strangelove in class in leu of a lecture.
Political Science 215: Introduction to American Government. So far this has been kind of a drag although I’m kind of liking the professor so I think it should work out. I just wish I didn’t have to go through 10th grade American history again.
Political Science 241: Introduction to Comparative Politics. This Class is looking really good. It’s kind of a crash course on several different forms of government. The professor seems like lots of fun and her credentials are really impressive (went to Yale, taught at Harvard, MIT, and Yale. Oh and of course ISU).
Political Science 251: Introduction to International Politics. This has been my biggest let down all week. Over the summer they changed the professors from a professor who’s field of study is Eastern Europe and Central Asia to a lecturer with a massive ego and a stutter. I had to bring my computer to class on Friday to keep myself from falling asleep. 70% attention is better than 0%.
Russian 101: Elementary Russian. This class has been a blast! The professor is great and I’m really enjoying it. I really don’t have anything to say other than it’s been great.
Political Science 101: My advisor is amazing. Apparently she was reading an international teacher’s newsletter and noticed that my Dad was principal at ICS this last year. Not only did she remember my name, but she remembered where I went to school. Other than a cool advisor the class is well.. a stupid seminar class that I had hoped to never take again, but oh well.
I’m also working 15 hours a week, and those 15 hours have been packed. We’ve had a lot of people that have just moved in and discovered problems and need help, and that’s what we’re there for.
