If you are reading this Aria is currently up, this may not always be the case in the next week or so. Yesterday I came home to an unresponsive computer, today the same thing happened. It looks like aria might be having some hardware problems that I’ll need to work out. Until then the website might be a little unstable. If it’s down believe me it hurts me more than it hurts you.

PoTW comes early this week as I’m expecting that I’m not going to have time to even bother with something as trivial as this tomorrow night. This morning when I went to work it was 35°F (about 1°C) and it was raining. It was terrible. As I write this though it’s obvious the temperature has dropped and it’s begun to snow.

This week’s PoTW was drawn on the whiteboard we have in the apartment. No I’m not mad at peter or anything, he just wasn’t home to defend himself when I drew it.

1 Part Chicken Noodle Soup 1 Part Orange Juice 1 Part e-mail into work 1 Part deactivated alarm clock 1 Part sick person
Bring all ingredients to a heat of about 100°F and allow to simmer
Serve cold
I’m sick and it sucks… at least I’ve got my soup and OJ.

The last couple days I’ve developed an addiction to a TV show. A TV show with a group of space-fairing characters looking for home. Sounds a little like Star Trek: Voyager?
The last couple days I’ve developed an addiction for a TV show with a charismatic leader taking his crew through hell and back. Sound like Star Trek: The Next Generation?
I’ve developed and addiction to a TV show about the crew aboard a ship that is more than a crew but a close knit group of friends that move on for the betterment of humanity. Sound like Star Trek in General?
Well it should, although these are superficial and elements chosen purely to their similarity to Star Trek there are many others, most hard to describe that give this new addiction the feel of what I love in Star Trek. Only thing is…. it’s not. I did just recently watch the last season of Star Trek: Enterprise. It was canceled after only 4 seasons. Before it the only Star Trek show to be canceled before season 7 was the original and it was doomed by stupid network execs and faulty rating systems. The point is that although I enjoyed it, Enterprise isn’t what Star Trek used to be.
My new addiction is Battlestar Galactica. Not the old series the new one that’s currently on the air. It’s absolutely amazing. I’d read reviews calling it “the best show on television… period.” I found them kind of hard to swollow. Although it does have some decent stuff the Sci-fi Channel isn’t really known for quality in it’s original shows. Quite frankly Stargate SG-1 and Atlantis are ok at best, they can’t lay a hand on The Next Generation though. BSG is simply amazing though. Good writing, great characters, fantastic story. Really it’s all there.
Battlestar Galatica is the new Star Trek.

For anyone that’s a Star Trek fan (or really anyone that has seen Star Trek IV) will understand the topic to this post. If you don’t get it, go see Star Trek IV, if you only ever see one Star Trek episode or movie, it should be the fourth movie. trekkie or non-trekkie you’ll enjoy it.
Anyways, to the meat of the post. Today I was browsing around and came across something awesome. That’s right transparent aluminum. Yet another example of Star Trek technology becoming a reality.

Much like the last similarly named post this one has to do with my bike, but not really.
Last night I was riding my bike home through Fredriksen Court on my way home. It was dark and cool, and overall a nice evening. I’m looking around as I ride and I notice a window with the shades pulled so you can see in to the people inside.
Then I realized something….
I do a double take…
There is exactly 2 people behind that window…
The two people are up against a wall….
Very naked…
Just a little public service announcement, if you’re going to have sex against a wall, close the shades. As I learned yesterday, even on the 2nd or 3rd floor, if you’re against the wall and the shades are up, everyone can see in.

I just want to say that I had a great birthday. I got a magnificent cake from my roommate Peter (German Chocolate, and he hates coconut). I also was joined by a number of friends in eating it, it was a good day.

Kids these days, think that they can rule the world. I scoff at their arrogance, perhaps if they have been around for a decade or two like myself they might be able to truly understand the word. But they haven’t! Their loss!

Last week was really not my week for biking, I had another incident. Friday I’m riding home from work :/ (work + bike seems to equal problems) speeding down the road when all of the sudden something goes wrong. I hear this terrible tearing sound and I can’t peddle anymore. I look down, and to my horror the right leg of my favorite pair of pants has been mostly gobbled by the gears of my bike.
I get home, a little upset, and decide that I’m going to go online and find a new pair just like the ones that were destroyed. They’re Levi’s 569 “Graphite” Corduroys so I figure it should be relatively easy to find, Levi’s is a big brand. Well I was fooled. I searched high and low for about 30 min without finding any 569 Corduroys, let alone the grey ones I wanted. I kept finding the jeans of the same style but not the corduroys and I was beginning to be a little frustrated. The all of the sudden…
VICTORY!!! Not only do I find the pants I want they are only $15. So what do I do? I order a pair, then I order another, and another. Actually, I just ordered 3 at once but the result is the same. I’m a little afraid I’m going to become one of those people that wears the same outfit all the time, but I love these pants so I don’t care.

UPDATE: Several people (who amazingly I don’t know) have asked where I got my corduroys. I found them on JCPenny.com if you do a search on their website it’ll go strait to them.
